Garden Bird Bath Drippers

If you wish to attract wild birds to your garden bird bath you should have some means of producing running water sounds. A dripper attached to your bird bath will serve this purpose and also provide somewhere that the wild birds will love to bathe in and fly through. Birds that do not wade are especially attracted to misters and drippers.

A bird bath dripper can be as simple as a pipe that is attached to the edge of the bird bath and steadily drips water or elaborate. Some designs that can be bought include dragonflies, butterflies, climbing ivy designs and many more. They are especially attractive when made from copper but can also be found in iron and other materials.

The dripper will provide constant agitation to the water and the sound of splashing will attract the wild birds. They also have the advantage of preventing mosquitoes from breeding by stopping them alighting on the water to lay their eggs. A dripper simulates the feeling of raindrops on their feathers that many birds love.

Some birds, especially warblers and hummingbirds will be more attracted to a mister than a dripper so you may want to set one up instead if you wish to attract these smaller birds. One disadvantage of a mister however is that it uses up more water than a dripper.
